The section of road from the intersection down to Fisheries Road crossed flat shrubland, with lots of sandy sections. The sun was setting as I crossed this area, making for some very nice light, even if I had hoped to be at camp by sunset (I didn't account for the 2.5 hour time zone difference from South to Western Australia and the resulting earlier sunset). Not that I was going fast enough to hit a kangaroo anyway.
