I stopped at this salt flat along the West Side Road to go for a walk. The car's dash shows the temperature (46°C). I went out carrying my camera and a gallon (4 l) of water, and came back a half hour later with half a gallon of water, which I promptly finished in the car. It wasn't until I was back in the car, with the AC on, that I felt just how much I was sweating, because in the cooler air it didn't immediately evaporate.
