  • Death Valley—Saline Valley

Previous photo

There is a campground loacated here around some hot springs in the middle of the valley. Officially called the Saline Valley Warm Springs, they are also called Hippie Hot Springs. Saline Valley was not part of the park until 1994, and this campground, which uses water from the springs to irrigate the grass and trees, was popular, especially among nudists, since the 1960s. Since the park expanded, there has been a compromise allowing the campground to keep running, with a host always present with contact with the park. It is not marked on any park maps, and nudity, forbidden in the rest of the park, is still allowed.
