We continued on to Madaba, a town of about 60,000 people, roughly one third Christian, giving it one of Jordan's largest Christian populations. The town is most famous for a mosaic map in the floor of this church, the Greek Orthodox Basilica of Saint George. The map was made in the 500s, and shows the Holy Land, but it was less photogenic than the church itself.
