Two of the four turbines on the ship. At first they were driven by three 90 megawatt reactors, later replaced by two 170 MW reactors. The electricity generated drove three propellers. The system provided 44,000 horsepower to drive the ship at 18 knots, or to allow it to move continuously at 2 knots through 2.4 m (8 feet) of ice.
