When the ice was too thick for the small plastic boat, some people on station agreed to take us out on the larger aluminum boat. It was able to push through the ice well enough, but it couldn't turn very well, so we didn't get far before returning to the pier. I'm pretty sure this was the first time I had seen a backhoe involved in docking a boat.
