From Ephesus, I headed inland a few hours and stopped at the much less visited ancient city of Afrodisias. The capital of another Roman province, the city was much smaller, with only about 15,000 people, but there was a lot to see and it was easy to sense the scale of the city as you walk from place to place. This is the monumental gateway.
