A busy street in the city of Dohuk in Kurdistan, the northern, nearly independent part of Iraq. This region has been a thriving and safe area since the 2003 invasion removed Saddam. It's capital, Erbil, is building a bustling tourism industry, and even in the smaller city of Dohuk, population around 300,000, people seemed to be doing well. The city is a mix of Kurdish Muslims and Assyrian Christians, with a small Arab minority.
