The Eyre Highway east of the Nullarbor Roadhouse. Standing in the middle of the highway usually wasn't a challenge. The highway goes from Port Augusta, north of Adelaide, to Norseman, far east of Perth, with connections on to the two big cities from either end. Altogether, the shortest route between the two cities is 2693 km (1673 miles), with about 1675 km (1041 miles) of that on the Eyre Highway. My trip through the Gawler Ranges meant I bypassed 307 km of the Eyre near the eastern end. I also turned south about 190 km before the western end and had some other detours on the old highway, but I still saw plenty of the "main highway" that you see here.
