This page has a random assortment of photos of the ice. The first two photos show the ice beside the ship turning over as we went through it. The board coming from the side of the ship is painted in 25-cm (10-inch) sections to help us gauge the thickness of the ice. Here it is about a meter thick.

An area with a lot of smaller pieces of ice.

A typical view from the floes where we had our drifting stations.

Some large pieces of ice turned over in a ridge.

Close ups of a recently formed ridge.
